Introduction

In any relationship commitment and satisfaction are of great importance and the same is

true in the working environment. In any organization the three terms that have a central position

are commitment, satisfaction of job and burnout. In case these three terms and policies related to

them are ignored by the organization it may lead to grave results for the organization and its

employees. It is important that the commitment is mutual in an organization. The employees

should be committed to their work and at the same time the employers should be committed to

their employees. The commitment by the employers and employees should be measurable and

transparent. An obvious commitment develops reliability and confidence and this commitment

also can help the employees to gain job satisfaction. Job satisfaction and commitment are

interrelated terms as the relationship between man and work is related to commitment and

satisfaction ( Norizan, 2012), and the third term that is again interrelated to commitment and

satisfaction is burnout. If a person is not committed and satisfied with the job or if a person is

over-committed and too involved in the job, the state of burnout can occur. Every organization

has the social and moral responsibility to work on trends that promote commitment and job

satisfaction and demote the process of burnout. Many companies have tried to improve

conditions in terms of commitment, job satisfaction and burnout because they have realized that

these terms are not just some kind of human resource and management definitions, but they are

facts associated with human resource and management and if the companies want to succeed in

today’s competitive world they should have the best practices of commitment and job

satisfaction and also the best policies to deal with the problem of burnout.

Commitment

Organizational Commitment can be defined as “Degree to which an employee identifies

with the organization and is willing to put forth effort on its behalf” (Hollenbeck, Gerhart &

Wright, 2004). The organizations that offer high organizational commitment will have

employees that can stretch themselves to do anything for the organization in the good and bad

times. The same way the organizations where the commitment is low the employees would leave

the organization easily to join a better place where their services will be respected.
