Length: 2 pages (you may exceed the length of the essay without penalty)
Part I (1 ½ pages):
What is the primary philosophical issue about which Socrates and Euthyphro are in
disagreement? What side of this issue does Socrates take? What side does Euthyphro take?
What are Euthyphro’s 3 logical mistakes? What is the conclusion to the argument?
Please provide the textual evidence for your answers.
Please do not copy the questions at the top of the page and proceed to answer each one.
Instead, your essay should have proper narrative transitions.
You do not need an introduction for this essay.
Part II (½ page):
Do you agree with Euthyphro? Do you agree with Socrates? Why?
Citation format: For this essay, provide the page number and line number for the text you
are quoting in parentheses after the quoted text followed by a period. For example, Socrates
says, “……” (page number, line number).
Do not use freestanding quotations. Those are quotations that have no introductory clause
identifying the speaker. Please always have a speaker before you provide the quotation (for
example, “Socrates says,” or “Euthyphro responds,”).
