Out of breath, out of shape, and left behind by all of my teammates due to my inability to keep up with them, I was beyond my limits. I was also faced with overwhelming embarrassment, knowing that I was possibly being mocked or pitied by others in the crowd who had seen I had fallen behind. In that moment, it clicked in my mind that this wasn\'t how I wanted to live. That mentality switch led me down a path of achieving weight loss, but also so much more. Throughout my fitness journey, I used the judgmental views from others as my gym motivation, rather than in the past where I let it put me down. What was once my discouragement became my greatest encouragement. As well, my choice to get healthy was one that led me to find my desired career path as a nutritionist, since it was an interest that I would not have discovered without my 5k epiphany. In turn, my newfound passion for fitness and nutrition also fueled me to help out my community through hospital volunteering and fundraising, marking my transformation from child to adult. My fitness journey wasn\'t one that only resulted in a physical transformation, but also a mental change. Through my experience with losing thirty pounds, i have grown and developed as a person in various aspects. My focus on fitness also directed me into providing a helping hand to my community in various ways, such as through my pursuit for a greater understanding of my newfound interest. My desire to understand more about the body lead me to volunteer at Stamford Hospital, both aiding their faculty and my educational curiosity by allowing myself to learn in a medical environment. This experience alone was one that enriched my understanding of the body and its capabilities, and further deepened my inquisitiveness about the field of nutrition. As well, I became a team leader for another 5k, one which donates all of collectively raised money to the Bennett Cancer Center of Stamford Hospital. Our team came together, with a majority of our members being newly made friends of mine, including Kevin, to support this cause. Done out of my own interests in exercise, my team was able to donate six hundred dollars, aiding our local hospital in their advancement in cancer treatments. So here I am now after this last 5k, fully capable of running alongside all of my teammates, not only in stronger physical condition, but also stronger mentally. I no longer am running alone, but am alongside all of my newly made friends. As a result of this one change i underwent, i have been able to develop all of these aspects of myself, in result allowing myself to make connections with others, discover my passions and aid my community, collectively marking my transition from adolescence into adulthood
