Each group of students will develop and present an advertising campaign (e.g., a logo, a
motto/catch phrase, a commercial, etc.) for a tourist or recreation attraction in Arizona. Class and instructor may ask questions. Instructor will determine performance both individually and of the group in final grade (20% of total grade for the course).
In this class, you will be exposed to a wide variety of campaigns, techniques and tools for promoting tourism and recreation. We discussed the Who, What, Where, When, Why & How questions. That is always a good way to frame any project. Be sure you have covered all of the W’s in your presentation.
WHAT--Pick a project—you will be exposed to many different companies, individuals, and projects in readings, class discussions, guest speakers, etc.) throughout the first two months of class, or you can pick any one you are familiar with in Arizona
WHY--Before you start a project, you have to develop a problem question and a goal.
What are you trying to accomplish?
WHO--Who’s your target audience?
WHERE AND HOW-How is this campaign going to be used? Radio, TV, magazine, social
media? Is it geographically based (e.g., where will the campaign be conducted)?
WHEN? When will be the best time to launch this campaign? Why?

informative, organized, etc.

You may have to answer one or more of the 5 W questions during the Q&A if the answers
are not clear from your presentation.
